It’s that time of year again!!! I must admit “The Best of 2014 for A Hedges Photography” almost didn’t happen. Three weeks after our little man was born– I’m tired. I’m busy. I’m really NOT in the “work” mode. But as the New Year approached I decided that it had to be done. For a few reasons—
First, I owed it to my clients– not that they need to look at my work or compliment me on images they’ve already seen and “liked” on Facebook. Not because I want more blog hits or shameless business plugs. But I need to thank them. I need to acknowledge them. I have amazing, loyal, gracious clients and I love working with each and every one of them. I may not be the most popular photographer, or the busiest, but I’m right where I want to be. I have no one to thank except myself and the clients that choose me. There are no short cuts, no work arounds, no cool kids club– I run my business with blood sweat and tears and that’s the only way I can feel good about it. I would not be me without all of you– thank you!
Also, going back through my years work is therapeutic and productive. I can look at the images I created over the past year and see where I’ve improved from the previous year, what I need to focus on in the upcoming year, and where I find the most joy in my work. I’m looking forward to seeing how my work evolves in 2015. I’m envisioning more artistic images, new techniques and a narrower focus….all good things!!
And finally, seeing all these faces and remembering the sessions with you– it keeps me going. It’s easy to focus on the negative aspects of owning a business, especially at this time of year. It’s the slow season, we’re approaching tax season– it’s rough. I really, REALLY love what I do and looking at what I’ve created gives me the boost I need to get excited about the future.
So this is a big one– there were LOTS of images to choose from and I narrowed it down as best I could. Here are the A Hedges Photography Faces of 2014. I can’t wait to see some of you again in 2015 and meet some new people as well! If you’re interested in seeing the “Best of 2014 – A Hedges Photography Portrait Edition” click HERE
